We would like to thank ARB for providing significant sponsorship in the form of prizes for our recent TriState event. Over Easter each year, the Holden and Jackaroo 4WD clubs from South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales get together to enjoy each other’s company and experience different locations across Australia. This year it was our turn to host the event. We chose Whyalla on the Spencer Gulf as our venue. The location proved to be an excellent venue, which allowed our 120 visitors the opportunity to experience South Australia’s ‘bush’. Daily trips extended from as far as Cowell on the southern Spencer Gulf to Spear Creek in the southern Flinders Ranges. Daily trips across to Iron Knob and other Iron Ore mines proved to be of interest to many of the visitors. Each evening a ‘happy hour’ took place and this gave us the opportunity to raffle a number of prizes donated by your company. With over $2,000 worth of prizes on offer from ARB (Regency Park, SA) the raffles proved a huge success. The money raised from the raffles went to offset the costs of organising and running the event. Thank you again for your valued support.

Whyalla TriState Update 3 Feb 27

Hi everyone,
Just a short note to keep you and your club members informed of our Tri State progress.

I’m pleased to report that we currently have 53 vehicles registered – 21 from South Australia, 10 from NSW and 22 from Victoria. We are still taking bookings so don’t feel like you are too late. In fact we will take bookings right up until just before the event. Merchandise bookings and some of the external (additional) trips may be a problem but we will do our best for you.

The planning is well advanced now. Our Saturday night entertainment is progressing well and the Sunday dinner is confirmed. We have been lucky to obtain a local football club venue for the Sunday night which will work out great for everyone. Just a comfortable walk from the camp ground to the venue.Don’t forget; our theme for the Sunday night dinner will be ROCK & ROLL. Get sewing and dig through the dress up clothes and bring your best rock and roll outfit. We’ll have prizes for the best dressed and who knows, there might be some points awarded for the best State’s efforts towards the overall competition.We’re still hoping for a few more registrations so please canvass your members and get them interested.

One last thing. Over the last week, the ferry between Wallaroo and Lucky Bay has resumed. If you want to cut a few hundred kilometres from your journey, check out this link to the website. It outlines all the costs, departure schedules etc.

Jackaroo Safety Recall

Holden has issued an alert to owners of Jackaroos of a potential condition to those vehicles fitted with 3.0L diesel engines. The notice was posted in the Advertiser today, June 9, 2011 on page 27.

According to the notice, Holden has identified a potential condition which may cause an unintended increase in engine speed whilst the engine is idling.

The following engines are those identified as being affected:
